About the event

The duo was formed in Boston in 2019 and has performed in New England, and throughout Mississippi and Alabama. Performing for venues and crowds of any size, Yellow Cocktail Music brings an exciting atmosphere with authentic performances of traditional jazz/Tin Pan Alley/golden age musical theatre, historically informed arrangements of modern pop tunes, and original compositions

Jamie Shannon is a singer, actor, director, and educator based in Tuscaloosa, AL. She has performed in various roles at theaters in the Boston area, Tuscaloosa, and throughout Mississippi. When not working in theater or teaching voice, she is lending her brilliantly clear and powerful voice to Yellow Cocktail Music and as principal vocalist of Dr. Warren Ertle’s Corpse Revivers. She is also known to bring her quick-witted anecdotes and Sophie Tucker impression to the acts.

Jamie Shannon has performed with New Stage Theatre, Theatre Tuscaloosa, Longwood Players, College Light Opera Company, John Clark, Dan Gabel, Kimberly Hawkey, Vince Giordano, and many more.

Dr. Warren Ertle is an award-winning composer, bandleader, and ragtime/stride pianist based in Tuscaloosa, AL. He is the winner of the 2022 New Rag Contest and a two-time regular division finalist at the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest & Festival. Considered an expert on the music of the Ragtime Era and American Jazz Age, Ertle performs regularly as a soloist, in the duo Yellow Cocktail Music with vocalist Jamie Shannon, and is the bandleader of authentic 1920s-1930s jazz band, Dr. Warren Ertle’s Corpse Revivers. When Ertle is not performing solo or on the bandstand, he remains an active sideman and has performed with Category VI Jazz Combo, The 215th Army Band, The 41st Army Band, John Clark, Kimberly Hawkey, Dan Gabel, Arnt Arntzen, Vince Giordano of the Grammy-Winning Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks, and more.
